Well, I sent him an e-mail on my own initiative, not expecting a reply. And then, I went back to my everyday life. After all, he is a respectable video producer now. I am sure he receives a lot of fan letter-like e-mails every day, so I doubt that the contact person will forward every one of them to him, and he is probably too busy to look through them.
However, the next day, I received an e-mail directly from him, saying, “Thank you for your e-mail. It was a great pleasure.” It seemed that he remembered me well. I had told him in my first e-mail where I currently lived, and he said he visited several times a year. He wrote that he hoped to see me again.
Often these conversations are so-called “generic platitudes” and never actually happen. So I did not expect too much, and I felt happy to have made contact with him for the first time in 30 years.
