There have been people who have left my office in the past. It is tempting to keep them because of the loss of strength in the office. However, after hearing their reasons, I try to respect their choices and decisions and tell them that I support them.
I know it is tough for any manager to behave like that. But, ultimately, I feel that it comes down to how far we should go into other people’s lives.
If a persons’ action to follow through on what they value is retirement, then I think it is right to encourage them to do so.
